Excellent On-site Test Results Drive Bulk Orders of Solvent-Free Laminating Adhesives from Multiple Packaging Enterprises

Following rounds of rigorous on-site production verification across flexible packaging production lines, the independently developed high-performance solvent-free laminating adhesive has achieved outstanding practical application effects. Driven by stable production performance, outstanding environmental protection advantages and comprehensive cost reduction benefits, more than ten domestic and foreign packaging manufacturers have officially placed bulk procurement orders recently, marking the formal large-scale market promotion of this new environmentally friendly adhesive product.
Against the backdrop of increasingly stringent global environmental regulations and the packaging industry’s accelerated low-carbon transformation, traditional solvent-based laminating adhesives are gradually being phased out due to high volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, high energy consumption for drying processes and potential residual solvent risks in finished packaging products. Solvent-free laminating adhesives have become the mainstream upgrading direction for flexible packaging lamination processes, yet many existing products still suffer from common pain points such as slow curing speed, poor bonding effect on special film substrates, and unstable performance in high-speed continuous production lines.
To solve these industry bottlenecks, the R&D team optimized the polyurethane formula and improved the adhesive’s construction adaptability specially for high-speed lamination equipment, food packaging composite films and multi-layer flexible packaging materials. Before formal bulk sales, the product completed 60-day uninterrupted on-site field tests in 8 representative packaging enterprises covering food packaging, daily chemical packaging and pharmaceutical packaging sectors.
On-site test data fully proves the superior performance of the new solvent-free laminating adhesive. In terms of production efficiency, the product supports a maximum lamination speed up to 450m/min, perfectly matching mainstream high-speed automatic lamination machines, with no edge warping, bubbling or delamination during long-term continuous operation. In terms of bonding performance, it maintains stable composite strength for PE, PET, BOPP and aluminized films, and passes high-temperature cooking and low-temperature freezing resistance tests, fully meeting the strict requirements of food retort packaging and cold chain packaging. From the perspective of environmental protection and production cost, the zero-solvent formula cuts VOC emissions by nearly 100%, eliminates the need for drying oven equipment, reduces enterprise electricity and gas consumption by over 30%, and simplifies the production process without solvent recovery and waste gas treatment links.
Packaging enterprises participating in the field tests gave unanimous positive feedback. Production supervisors pointed out that compared with traditional solvent-free adhesives, this upgraded product has lower initial viscosity, more convenient gluing operation, less equipment cleaning frequency, and effectively reduces production downtime and defective product rate. For food and pharmaceutical packaging manufacturers with extremely strict safety standards, the product features no solvent residue, no peculiar smell and excellent food contact safety, which fully complies with EU PPWR packaging regulations and domestic food packaging material safety standards.
Encouraged by the remarkable on-site test results, multiple packaging companies have signed long-term bulk procurement cooperation agreements. Many medium and large-sized packaging manufacturers have also launched sample testing and production line adaptation work successively, showing strong market purchasing willingness. Industry insiders said that the global solvent-free laminating adhesive market is expected to maintain a compound annual growth rate of 5.5% from 2026 to 2036, and Asia-Pacific will remain the fastest-growing regional market benefited from the upgrading of domestic packaging manufacturing.
The relevant person in charge of the adhesive R&D enterprise stated that the company will continue to iterate product formulas targeting recyclable packaging films and biodegradable packaging materials in the next stage. It will also provide customized overall lamination solutions for different production lines to help more packaging enterprises realize green production upgrading, reduce carbon footprint and enhance core competitiveness in the increasingly standardized global packaging market.
