Why Dispersion Stability Matters in Cement Formulations
When developing polymer-modified cement products, many formulation engineers focus on the final mechanical properties.
But before reaching the final product, there is another important question:
How well does the polymer latex disperse and interact with the cement system?
Good dispersion can be an important factor in developing a stable formulation.
This is one of the reasons why RF-9608A SBR Latex is designed with excellent dispersibility and good compatibility with various cements.
RF-9608A is a styrene-butadiene latex copolymer developed for cement mortar modification. The product also provides good chemical stability and is designed to increase adhesion to most substrates.
Its typical solid content is 48.0 ± 1%, pH 7.0–9.0, and viscosity ≤800 mPa·s. The Tg and MFFT are both listed as 6°C.
For manufacturers, good dispersion can make the formulation development process easier to evaluate.
However, polymer latex cannot be considered independently.
The cement type, water content, filler selection, additives, mixing sequence, dosage, curing conditions, and application method all need to be considered.
This is why we recommend customers conduct laboratory trials using their own formulation system.
