Summary:Nov 26,2020

Cementing is performed when the cement slurry is deployed into the well via pumps, displacing the drilling fluids still located within the well, and replacing them with cement.

The cement slurry flows to the bottom of the wellbore through the casing, which will eventually be the pipe through which the hydrocarbons flow to the surface. From there it fills in the space between the casing and the actual wellbore, and hardens.

This creates a seal so that outside materials cannot enter the well flow, as well as permanently positions the casing in place.

The rate at which hydration occurs when water is mixed with cement can be altered using chemical additives.

Additives are chemicals and materials blended into base cement slurries to change the performance of the cement. Due to the inherent nature of base cements and because of the demands placed on the cement sheath throughout the life of the well, the performance properties of the cementing slurry are modified to address the specific and unique conditions of each well.

Many of the additives currently used are organic, polymeric materials which have been specifically formulated for use in well cementing operations. Typical chemical additives for oil and as well cementing operations include; accelerator, retarders, extenders, fluid loss and loss circulation additives, dispersants.

RF-9606 is polymer water dispersion made from butadiene, styrene and unsaturated carboxylic acid by emulsion polymerization. High chemical stability, good compatibility with cement paste, good adhesion between oil and water runny interface. After hydration, latex cement slurry can form a dense and impermeable system to effectively control water loss. It can improve the elasticity and compression strength of cement and effectively reduce the rupture degree of cement surface during perforation. It can improve the resistance of cement to fluid corrosion and improve the durability of cement.
