Water pressure resistance is a decisive performance indicator for tents and outdoor shelters. Unlike surface water repellency, which causes water to bead and roll off, water pressure resistance ensures that water does not penetrate the fabric under sustained load.
RF-8273 is engineered as a coating binder rather than a simple water repellent. Its acrylic copolymer structure forms a continuous, fine coating film that blocks water penetration even when external pressure is applied. This makes it suitable for tent fabrics exposed to rain accumulation, wind-driven water, and ground contact.
The self-crosslinking nature of RF-8273 enhances film integrity during thermal curing. When baked at 130–150 °C for 50–60 seconds, the polymer network develops sufficient cohesion to resist hydrostatic pressure while retaining flexibility.
Equally important is yarn binding strength. By reinforcing fiber-to-fiber bonding, RF-8273 minimizes micro-channels within woven fabrics, significantly improving water pressure performance without excessive coating thickness.
