The Formulator’s Guide: Technical Profile & Rheological Stability
Headline: Engineering Crack-Bridging Membranes: Technical Specifications of RF-8602
For R&D chemists and coating technologists, selecting a raw polymer emulsion requires strict alignment between polymer properties and target cement hydration dynamics. An inadequate emulsion destabilizes when exposed to free multivalent cations released during cement mixing, leading to early gelation or poor mechanical performance. Zhejiang Ruico’s RF-8602 Styrene-Acrylic Emulsion offers the chemical consistency and stability required for high-performance formulation design.
RF-8602 is an anionic dispersion with a uniform polymer particle design. It features an active non-volatile solid content of 57±1%, enabling high binder solids in liquid-to-powder ratios, accelerating curing kinetics, and facilitating denser film packing. Its viscosity spans 1500–4000 mPa·s at standard shear rates, providing stable flow behavior that readily suspends fillers while maintaining workable rheology during manual or spray application. Operating within a controlled pH range of 7.0–9.0, it remains fully compatible with common alkaline cement systems without destabilizing the mix.
A standout feature is the emulsion’s Glass Transition Temperature (Tg) of -10℃ alongside a low-temperature sensitivity below 0℃. This sub-zero Tg ensures that the cured polymer network maintains its high flexibility and elongation under cold seasonal cycles, bridging moving micro-cracks effectively. Crucially, RF-8602 consistently passes the 5% Calcium chloride(1:5) calcium ion stability test. When cement hydrates, high concentrations of divalent calcium ions calcium ion enter the pore solution. Because of its targeted particle stabilization, RF-8602 resists calcium-induced flocculation, ensuring a prolonged pot life and consistent mortar rheology on the jobsite.
