RF-8273 – A Fluorine-Free Acrylic Binder Designed for High Water-Pressure Tent Fabrics

Modern tent and outdoor fabrics demand more than basic water repellency. They must withstand sustained hydrostatic pressure, repeated folding, environmental exposure, and mechanical stress while remaining soft and flexible. RF-8273 is a fluorine-free acrylic copolymer binder developed specifically to meet these requirements.

RF-8273 is a self-crosslinking, anionic acrylic emulsion designed for scraping and coating processes commonly used in tent fabrics and luggage textiles. With a glass transition temperature (Tg) of approximately –5 °C, it forms a flexible yet durable film capable of maintaining water pressure resistance without compromising hand feel.

One of the key strengths of RF-8273 lies in its adhesion to synthetic fibers. Strong fiber bonding and yarn binding strength ensure that the coating remains intact even under tension and repeated flexing. This is critical for tents and outdoor fabrics that experience continuous mechanical deformation during use.

In addition to water pressure resistance, RF-8273 demonstrates water resistance and resistance to water whitening, maintaining fabric appearance after exposure to moisture.
