RF-2852A(S): Halogen-Free Flame-Retardant Binder for Upholstery Fabrics

RF-2852A(S) is a halogen-free, non-brominated flame-retardant binder developed by Ruico Advanced Materials for use on sofa and upholstery fabrics.
It is designed for polyester materials such as suede, oxford, pongee, and imitation linen, offering reliable performance while maintaining a pleasant textile feel.

The formulation allows manufacturers to meet the BS 5852 0–2 flame-retardant standard through proper coating application. When exposed to flame, RF-2852A(S) creates a dense carbon layer on the fabric surface, effectively slowing flame spread and preventing the underlying foam from ignition.

Key characteristics include:

• Halogen-free and non-brominated composition.

• Compliance with RoHS and REACH environmental standards.

• Balanced pH (7–9) and viscosity (<8,000 cps).

• Solid content around 57%.

• Smooth, soft hand feel after finishing.

Unlike conventional gas-phase systems, RF-2852A(S) can achieve equivalent flame-retardant results with lower coating weight and reduced smoke formation. This advantage makes it suitable for furniture fabrics in homes, hotels, and public interiors where both safety and aesthetics matter.

Manufacturers are encouraged to adjust coating levels to match required performance, with blade coating recommended. Ruico provides SDS documentation, technical advice, and support for processing optimization.

For stable performance, the product should be stored in a cool, ventilated place between 5–30 °C, away from sunlight and freezing. Proper stirring before use ensures uniformity.
