E-Glass Yarn Compatibility in Fiberglass Mesh Coating

Update:The compatibility between the coating system and the E-glass yarn can influence the processing and performance of coated...
Summary:Jul 24,2026

The compatibility between the coating system and the E-glass yarn can influence the processing and performance of coated fiberglass mesh.

The glass fiber yarn may already contain a sizing system designed for the knitting or weaving process.

The coating formulation should therefore be evaluated with consideration of:

  • E-glass yarn composition
  • Existing sizing system
  • Polymer chemistry
  • Wetting behavior
  • Coating adhesion
  • Drying temperature
  • Final mechanical properties

The coating process may also affect the interaction between the polymer film and the glass fiber surface.

Laboratory evaluations can include coating adhesion, mechanical testing, alkali-aging evaluation and water resistance testing.

Where necessary, formulation adjustments can be made according to the characteristics of the yarn and the production process.

RUI CO provides water-based polymer solutions for fiberglass mesh coating and can support compatibility evaluation between polymer systems and glass fiber substrates.
