Better Adhesion Starts with the Right Polymer

Whether a product is applied to concrete, masonry, stone, or another substrate, maintaining good interaction between the material and the substrate is an important part of formulation development.
For manufacturers working with polymer-modified cement systems, selecting an appropriate polymer latex can therefore make a difference.
RF-9608A SBR Latex from Zhejiang Ruico Advanced Materials is developed for cement mortar modification.
One of its key characteristics is its ability to increase adhesion to most substrates. At the same time, RF-9608A provides good chemical stability, excellent dispersibility, and good compatibility with various cements.
These characteristics make it suitable for evaluation in different cement-based formulation systems.
RF-9608A has a typical solid content of 48.0 ± 1%, pH 7.0–9.0, and viscosity ≤800 mPa·s. The listed Tg and MFFT are both 6°C.
But selecting the right polymer is only the beginning.
A successful formulation requires the polymer to work together with cement, fillers, aggregates, additives, water, and other formulation components.
Production conditions also matter.
Mixing sequence, polymer dosage, curing conditions, application method, and substrate conditions may all influence the final performance.
